Vehicle Collision with Rescue on Route 26 near Freter Road

On Friday evening at 8:06p.m. Winfield Fire Department was alerted for a vehicle collision on Route 26 in the area of Freter Road. First arriving units found an unstable car over the embankment with the driver trapped. The assignment was then upgraded to a rescue assignment adding Rescue Squad 12. Chief 14 arrived and established the command. Crews from Engine 141 & Utility 14 worked to stabilized the car to the adjacent guardrail with lifeline rope and removed the door. Rescue Squad 12 arrived and utilizing their stokes basket packaged the patient for safe removal up to the embankment. Due to the severity of the injuries a Maryland State Police Medevac was requested and airlifted the patient to Shock Trauma. Engine 142 provided the landing site adjacent to the Winfield Fire Station.
