On Sunday April 5, 2015 at 3:53 p.m. Winfield Fire Department was alerted on the Brush Task Force to assist with a wildland fire in Sykesville. Sykesville crews were on the scene in the 2200 Block of Jim Kohler Road with a rapidly spreading field fire that extended in the woods towards adjacent houses. The dry and windy conditions caused this fire to escalate. Crews operated on the scene for several hours.
