Garage Fire on Klee Mill Road

Early this morning at 12:48a.m. Winfield & Sykesville Fire Departments were alerted for a detached garage fire at 60 Klee Mill Road. Crews arrived to a 40'x50' Quonset hut style building with heavy fire conditions and multiple exposures. Chief 14 established command and upgraded the incident to a box alarm bringing additional units from Gamber & West Friendship Fire Departments. Engine 142 & Engine 124 quickly deployed a 3" blitz-fire line, and (2) hand lines protecting the adjacent house and other exposures. Tanker 14, Engine Tanker 133, Engine 131, and Howard Engine 31 were used to haul 10,000 gallons of water from a close fire hydrant located at the intersection of Klee Mill Road & Enterprise Street. Crews worked into the early morning hours overhauling and cleaning up at the station and units went back in service shortly around 4:00 a.m. The Maryland State Fire Marshals Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
