I remember coming into WCVFD every now and then during my tours when I worked out there in beautiful Carroll County. I would cruise up and down Liberty Road during my patrols when I worked for Sykesville PD. I was out there for nearly 10 years. A nice quiet, sleepy Mayberry back then. I have a patch from Sykesville-Freedom VFD and would love to have one from Winfield to put in my scrapbook for a momento. Can someone contact me about obtaining one or arranging a trade. Thanks in advance. Keep safe to all whom ride for WCVFD and may St. Florian protect you always!

I want to say thank you for protecting our homes and families. My daughter, Summer, in first grade, won third place in your fire prevention posster contest. I attended the open house and Lt. Chris from Sykesville helped me to see what "beer goggles" do to a driver. Unfortunately, my ex-husband didn't bring our daughter to the ceremony, but I was able to see the proud children in attendance. This year, as a third grader at Linton Springs, she has won first place, and we will make every effort to attend after her Raiders cheer team has competed in College Park. If we are unable to make it in time, I want to say thank you again. Sincerely, Angel and Summer Carbaugh

I was a member back in the mid/late 70's. We lived next to Warners (old house) on Muller Rd. (Remember Ellen Jones?) I used to try to catch Ricky Warner as he drove (if that's what you call it) out of his yard. Usually missed. I still remember Rodney, "sweetpea", Larry Yon, the guy who lived to take dumps...anyway, great site, great memories. Somebody please contact me so I can purchase a shirt and patch. Be safe.

I am sad to hear of the passing of Chief Wayne Logue. He was a fine man and a great example as a human being. When Joe Grimes, Buddy Grimes, Calvin Smith, and myself joined the department in 1972, there was some resistance from some of the older members because of our hair. Wayne was one of the first tho extend his hand and make us feel welcome. When I was serving in the Army he was always one who had a smile and was genuinely glad to see me when I came home on leave.I am sure he will be missed in the community. If anyone has contact with Doug Logue will you have him get in touch with me.

Hello fellow EMS/Firefighters. Just wanted to say - Beautiful website. My brother Gene Spahr was a member of Winfield until his death on July 24, 1976. Gene was proud to be a firefighter and EMS provider. I know he would be as proud as I am for the wonderful job you did on your website. I am proud to be a member of LFVC. I got my start at Winfield with Gene. We both were in an EMT class when he died suddenly. The current members of Winfield were so supportive at that time. Many of them came to the scene to help him. Those men will never be forgotten. To this day I am grateful for what they did for him. It took me many years to continue without him, but both my son and I are now EMT's just like Gene. Keep up the great work Winfield Firefighters and EMS!
