| At the monthly membership meeting of the Winfield Fire Department, a special presentation was made to the Carroll County Education Foundation. The Winfield Community Volunteer Fire Department and the Ladies Auxiliary to the Winfield Fire Department each donated $2000 to the Carroll County Education Foundation in support of their Heart Smart Schools Initiative. This initiative, started by Cranberry Station Elementary School teacher Steven Krouse, is to place Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) in all of the Elementary and Middle Schools in Carroll County. The fire department and ladies auxiliary recognize the importance of AEDs and their ability to provide potential life saving intervention in the early moments following sudden cardiac arrest.
On hand for the presentation was teacher Steven Krouse, Winfield Elementary School Principal Cindy Bell, Linton Springs Elementary School Principal Vicki Winner, Ladies Auxiliary President Barbara Zepp and Fire Department President Scott Legore.
The fire department encourages other businesses and citizens to also support this very important program. For more information on the Heart Smart School Initiative, you can contact Steven Krouse at skkrous@k12.carr.org. |
