On Sunday afternoon December 16th at 1:32p.m. firefighters from Winfield, Mt. Airy, New Windsor and Libertytown Fire Departments were alerted for a House Trailer Fire in the 4300 Block of Ridge Road (Route 27). First arriving Chief 1 (Browning) found a mobile home with smoke and fire showing and unknown if anyone was inside. A rapid intervention dispatch and tanker task force was requested. Winfield's Engine 142 was the first unit to arrive and laid a 5" supply line to the scene and made a quick interior attack. The fire, which had burned in the living room and kitchen was quickly knocked down by the initial attack line and the primary search proved negative. With the fire knocked Ridge Road Command held the first alarm units and placed the rapid intervention and tanker task force in service. Crews worked for the next 90 minutes overhauling the fire rooms and assisting the Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office. The Red Cross was contacted for the residents. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
