2024 Fire Prevention at Home Bingo Challenge!
This year, we have created a list of activities for youth to do at home or in the community with the help of their guardian or responsible adults. The activities are laid out on a “BINGO” card. Youth will have from registration until October 20 to complete as many activities as possible to obtain as many BINGO’s as desired. As there is no registration process this year, participants are responsible for ensuring completed cards and contact infromation are submitted on time.

We are pleased to announce our new program dedicated to reducing risk throughout the Winfield community.
What is Community Risk Reduction?
Having emergency response personnel actively involved in public fire and life-safety education efforts can prevent incidents or mitigate the damage caused when they do occur. Sometimes they can be the most efficient and effective way to reduce community risks. Community Risk Reduction (CRR) is a process to identify and prioritize local risks followed by the integrated and strategic investment of resources (emergency response and prevention) to reduce their occurrence and impact.
A big part of Community Risk Reduction is education on risks and prevention of those risks. CRR really means we are collectively trying to reduce risks, improve outcomes, and be as efficient as possible using ALL the tools we have available to do so. By working with others to "get ahead of the call" we can improve public safety for the variety of fire, medical, and other emergency incidents the fire service deals with on a daily basis.
Winfield's Community Risk Reduction program includes implementing and conducting several community education events. It encourages our personnel to train and educate the community, teaching ways to prevent and respond to common risks we are asked to called for.
Programs rotate on a monthly basis, but see below for a summary of each program offered. If you are interested in attending a program, current offerings are posted to our Eventbrite page: http://winfieldvfd.eventbrite.com/ (please note, current programs are limited due to COVID restrictions - more programs will be posted for the Spring/Summer).

Child Passenger Safety Seat Assistance
We all want our children to travel safely in cars but installing a car seat can be tough! Do you know that car seat statistics show the leading cause of death for children ages 3-14 in the United States is motor vehicle crashes? Any where from 72% to 84% of child restraints show critical misuses, yet another statistic says 96% of parents believe their child safety seat is installed and used correctly. Let us help you keep those little ones safe! During a 30-45 minute appointment, our certified child passenger safety (CPS) Technician will teach you how to appropriately select, safely use, and correctly install a car seat on your own. Appointments are conducted virtually due to COVID concerns. In addition, our certified technicians are not at the station at all times; please contact us ahead of time to ensure we will be available to assist. Click here to contact us for additional information, or to inquire about scheduling a meeting. Having trouble affording a child safety seat?
