On Wednesday evening May 26th at 8:16pm Box Alarm 14-16 was dispatched for a reported house fire in the 100 Block of Brass Eagle Drive. Engine 142 arrived to find fire coming from the attic area of a 2-story single family dwelling. A Tanker Task Force and Rapid Intervention Dispatch were requested. Chief 12 (Ed Ruch Jr.) had command of the incident. Crews made a quick interior attack and were able to access the fire in the attic through two bedrooms located above the garage. This prevented the fire from spreading throughout the remainder of the house. The occupants were able to escape prior to the fire departments arrival and one firefighter was transported to Carroll Hospital Center with a minor injury. The cause of the fire was from a lightning strike from a severe storm that was passing through the County.
