On Sunday evening February 28th at 2:56pm Box Alarm 10-14 was dispatched for a reported house fire in the 2600 Block of Doctor Stitley Road. New Windsor's Engine 101 was the first to arrive to a very large farm house with heavy fire throughout the structure. The assignment was upgraded to include a Rapid Intervention Team and a Tanker Task Force. Duty 100 (Chief 12-2 Polikoff) arrived and was the Incident Commander for the duration of the incident. The farm house was originally built in the 1800's with a more recent addition. The size and age of the structure proved very challenging for crews which spent over 6-hours extinguishing the blaze. A water supply fill site was setup at a nearby stream and a tanker shuttle was established hauling over 75,000 gallons to the scene. The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Office of the State Fire Marshal.
