On Sunday evening December 20th at 8:48pm Box Alarm 14-10 was dispatched for house fire with reported people trapped in the 1800 Block of Gillis Falls Road. Based on this information Chief 14 (Davis) upgraded the assignment to include a Tanker Task Force and Rapid Intervention Dispatch. Duty 1 (S. Stull) was the first to arrive with fire through the roof of a large single family dwelling. Duty 14 (Davis) arrived and established command. Thankfully the occupants were able to escape unscathed prior to the arrival of the fire department. The bulk of the fire was in the attic area which proved challenging for firefighters to access and extinguish. Since this area of Woodbine does not have fire hydrants a rural water supply shuttle needed to be established. A water supply fill site was setup at a dry fire hydrant (pond) located on Gillis Falls Road by Watersville Road and large capacity tankers were used to shuttle water to the scene. Crews worked throughout the night extinguishing the fire and performing extensive overhaul operations. Crews went in service shortly after midnight. The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Office of the State Fire Marshal.
