On Christmas morning at approximately 1100 Hours WCVFD was alerted to assist Mount Airy Volunteer Fire Company with the two alarm house fire. First arriving units found smoke showing with fire coming from the front of the house. E142 arrived and assisted with a secondary search and overhaul of the basement. Tanker 14 was alerted to replace a failed unit, and arrived to nurse the attack engines with its water. They hauled one load of 3500 gals of water. During the initial fire attack a firefighter was injured by a falling ceiling. The firefighter was able to be removed from the house quickly and was evaluated by EMS personnel and transported to a local hospital for treatment of non life threatening injuries. The fire was placed under control within an hour and a half and was placed out within two hours.
