Just before 4:00 PM on August 30th Units from Winfield and Mount Airy were alerted for a Vehicle Collision with Rescue in the 4700 Block of Route 27. Paramedic 149 and Duty 14 (Chief Davis) arrived and found a single vehicle into a tree. Duty 14 established the Route 27 Command and advised he had 1 patient still heavily pinned in the vehicle and multiple other patients. Crews immediately went to work assessing the patients involved. Aviation was then requested for 2 pediatric patients which brought Maryland State Police Trooper 2 to assist. The driver who was trapped in the vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene. The 2 pediatric patients were flown to Johns Hopkins by Trooper 2. Maryland State Police is currently investigating the incident.
