Early Thursday morning at 3:45am Sykesville Freedom District Fire Department and mutual aid companies were dispatched for a reported abandon house fire in the 6900 Block of Slacks Road. First arriving Duty 12 (Captain D. Polikoff) established command and reported an abandon house fully engulfed with fire. Firefighters arrived and quickly deployed hose lines to protect the adjacent building along with controlling a brush fire adjacent to the house. Winfield's Engine 142 established water supply at a stream approximately 600' away which provided adequate water for the duration of incident. For the second time this week Tower 12 was utilized to deploy an aerial master stream to assist with extinguishing the fire. Crews picked up and went in service at approximately 6:00am. The Office of the State Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.
