Fatal Accident on Liberty Road

On Monday February 11th just before 5:00am units from Winfield, New Windsor, and Sykesville Fire Departments were alerted for a vehicle collision with rescue on Liberty Road (Route 26) near Hooper Road. Chief 14 (Davis) was the first to arrive and reported a three vehicle motor vehicle accident with two people trapped, one which was heavily trapped and unconscious. Engine 102's crew from New Windsor worked to extricate the first patient who was transported to Carroll Hospital Center with non-life-threatening injuries. Rescue Squad 12's crew from Sykesville worked to extricate the second patient who sadly was reported deceased at the scene. Maryland State Police kept the road closed for several hours while they investigated the cause of the collision.
