Four members of the Apparatus Committee traveled to Appleton, Wisconsin, (July 29th & 30th) to see Winfield's Engine 141 on the Pierce Manufacturing, Inc. assembly line. The members spent the day inspecting the pumper for quality of workmanship, and insuring the design drawings and specifications were being met. Once the inspection was completed the committee members reviewed future equipment placement within the compartments. The committee discussed the timeline for the pumper to be placed in service (once delivered to Maryland) including pump acceptance testing, mobile radio installation, tool mounting, and driver's training requirements. The pumper is scheduled to be completed in 3 weeks, at that time the committee will return for final inspection, driving test, and attend the foam demonstration class. Members traveling to the Pierce plant were Chief Schneider, Assistant Chief Davis, Lieutenant Haspert, and FF S. Dayhoff.
