Working Basement Fire in Westminster

On April 19th Around 2:00 PM. Units from Westminster, New Windsor, Winfield, Gamber, Sykesville, Hampstead,and Pleasant Valley fire departments were alerted for smoke coming from the house in the 1600 Block of Exeter Road in Westminster. Shortly after the call was dispatched an off-duty firefighter arrived and reported heavy smoke coming from the house. Chief 3 arrived shortly after and confirmed heavy smoke from the house and requested the Rapid Intervention Dispatch. Engine 142 arrived as the 2nd engine, and crews quickly went to work breaking windows for ventilation of the basement and checking for extension of fire into the 1st floor with other crews. The fire was placed under control quickly and was held to a small portion of the basement.
