The Winfield VFD would like to remind families that have the old style smoke alarms to replace the batteries in smoke and carbon monoxide alarms when they turn back the clocks this weekend. You should also vacuum them to keep them in good working order.

Thirty-eight percent of fatal fire injuries occur in homes without working smoke alarms and twenty-four percent occur in homes where at least one smoke alarm is present, but fails to operate.

The Winfield VFD will be holding their Fire Safety Open House on Sunday, November 17th from noon - 3pm. We will be giving away 110 lithium battery smoke alarms that we received through a grant and meet the new Maryland code. These devices are for Winfield first due residents only. We will provide 55 families 2 smoke alarms each on a first come first serve basis. Please bring proof of residency.
