Janet Barnes Sworn Into Office |

| Janet Barnes was sworn into office today as President of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Carroll County Volunteer Emergency Services Association (CCVESA). Janet Loretta Hood was born in 1936. She was raised on a dairy farm in Frederick County with her father Foard and her mother Frances, and younger sister Joyce. She graduated from Mt. Airy High School June 1954, and married James Barnes in December. They have three children, Darrell, Debra and Dennis and four grandchildren. Jim was a farmer and a Carroll County school bus contractor for 25 years and Janet drove one of their busses. After he retired they owned and operated Midway Feed near Eldersburg. They took several trips and cruises together. They were married 46 years and Jim passed in 2000. Janet is a charter member of the Winfield Ladies Auxiliary and served as President for 10 years. She was also the State Ads and Patrons Chair one year and a Bessie Marshall and Ways and Means committee member several years. She was inducted into the LAMSFA Hall of Fame in 2011. Janet loves mowing her yard and working around her home and hopes she can stay there forever.
