The Winfield Community Volunteer Fire Department held its Annual Christmas Fire Safety Open House on Sunday, December 9, 2007, from 1-4pm. At 1pm Santa kicked the event off by arriving by fire engine. At 2pm the fire prevention poster awards ceremony took place with Chief Tim Warner and Miss Winfield Stacie Jaret handing out the awards. The following organizations attended the event and our thanks go out to you for taking time out of your busy schedules to bring vital information to our community:

American Red Cross
Carroll Hospital Center
Mothers Against Drunk Driving
Carroll County Health Department
Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office
Carroll County Sheriff's Office & K-9
Maryland State Police
Maryland Fire & Rescue Institute

The Auxiliary to the Winfield Volunteer Fire Department also served delicious refreshments during the event. Rescue 1 from Mount Airy, Carroll Counties ATR (Advanced Technical Rescue) and Decontamination units were also on display as well as Boat 13, Gamber Fire Department, and their search and rescue dogs. FF Bill Flanagan, Sykesville Fire Department, also brought Freddie the Firetruck for the kids to enjoy. Special thanks to the Westminster Fire Department for lending us their 911 simulator and making sure the Decon unit could participate that day. Thanks to all of the Fire Prevention Queens from across the county and state that assisted us. We would also like to thank Russ Country Garden & Gifts for the donation of the balloons to decorate with that day, Walnut Springs Nursery for the beautiful poinsettias, Belisimos Restaurant for helping us advertise the event and Astro Events for the obstacle course. We look forward to working with all of you next year. Last but not least, I'd like to thank all of the members that came out to help that day, I truly appreciated all of your assistance.

Have a safe holiday -
