On Sunday, February 19, 2012, the 2012 MSFA Junior Miss Fire Prevention Contest for the North Central Region was held at the Lewistown Volunteer Fire Department in Frederick, MD. Amanda Soper arranged the contest and Stacie Jaret served as emcee.

Earlier in the day the contestants met behind closed doors with the judges to deliver a 3-5 minute speech on a fire prevention topic they had chosen, and to answer a few fire prevention questions.

The competition then moved to the stage where all attending could enjoy the competition.

This year there were two contestants competing for the title:

Natalie Wilson from the Winfield Fire Department, who is the daughter of Steve and Mary Ellen Wilson. Natalie is 13 years old and attends Sykesville Middle School where she is in the 7th grade. She enjoys 4-H, riding her go-cart, dancing, volunteering with the Winfield VFD Juniors and spending time with family and friends. Her escort was Shawn Jaret, EMS Captain of the Winfield VFD.

Brittany Casey from the Elkridge Fire Department, who is the daughter of Daniel and Julianna Casey. She is 14 years old and attends Long Reach High School where she is in 9th grade. Brittany enjoys Girl Scouts and volunteering with the Elkridge VFD Junior Program. Her escort was her dad, Lt. Dan Casey.

The contestants then answered "what does fire prevention mean to you" and one other question drawn at random.

The judges, Nora Ryan, Michelle Gallion and Stephanie Gallion, retired to deliberate while Grace Lakin gave her farewell speech.

When the judges returned Stacie announced the 2012 MSFA Junior Miss Fire Prevention for the North Central Region as Natalie Wilson.

Congratulations Natalie! Job well done by both of the contestants today.
