| Winfield kicked off Fire Prevention Week by visiting grades K and 1 at Winfield Elementary the morning of October 2nd. A fire drill was not possible this morning since the kids were receiving flu mist, so we will revisit them Monday, October 5th for their fire drill. However, we were able to visit with grades K and 1 and discuss home fire safety. They also watched a firefighter get dressed in full turnout gear so they know not to be afraid of the "Friendly Firefighter" and had the opportunity to try on gear themselves. The visit ended with a tour of the Ambulance, Engine and Tanker. In the afternoon the teachers showed the kids a safety video and then sent them home with a plastic firehat.
In the afternoon we visited South Carroll High School and performed a fire drill.
Thanks to all of the officers, members and paid personnel that assisted today. |
