The Baltimore Gas and Electric Company (BGE) has awarded the Winfield Community Volunteer Fire Department the BGE Emergency Response & Safety Grant. The grant will allow the department to replace 2 of the 3 outdated multi-gas meters that are carried on the fire apparatus. The new meters will allow firefighters to utilize state of the art technology for gas emergencies, building fires, as well as having interoperability with other fire departments in Carroll County. The new multi-gas meters will greatly enhance our capabilities detecting cancer causing gases in addition to natural gas and carbon monoxide.

The Emergency Response & Safety Grant program is part of BGE’s continued commitment to supporting safety and reliability while also enhancing the communities it serves. Grant monies can be used to fund equipment, programs or services, such as smoke detectors, thermal imaging cameras, search and rescue equipment, emergency services, emergency food pantry and basic life support kits, and many others, that are critical to the safety of the communities BGE serves. The Winfield Community Volunteer Fire Department along with many other public service agencies have a great working relationship with BGE on many emergency and non-emergency incidents. BGE is a great partner and asset to the fire department.

The members of the Winfield Community Volunteer Fire Department would like to thank BGE for this generous grant which will help us better serve our community.
