1st Due House Fire on W. Liberty Road

On Friday evening January 12th at 9:04p.m. units from Winfield and surrounding fire departments were alerted for a reported house fire in the 2600 Block of W. Liberty Road. While responding to the scene based on updated information from Carroll County's Dispatch Center, Duty 14 requested a Rapid Intervention Dispatch and a Tanker Task Force. Duty 14 (Chief 14-2 Davis) arrived to find smoke showing from both floors of a 2 1/2 story single family house and established command. Engine 141 arrived along with mutual companies and worked on extinguishing the fire that started on the first floor but extended to the second floor and attic. The house was vacant at the time of the fire and was being utilized for storage. The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Office of the State Fire Marshal.
