On Sunday at 12:10p.m. Winfield and surrounding fire departments were alerted for a reported house fire in the 4700 Block of Woodbine Road. Engine 141 arrived and reported smoke showing from a single story rancher, advising a working house fire. Lieutenant 14-3 (Legore) off Engine 141 established the initial command while crews made an interior attack confining the fire to the kitchen area. Chief 14-2 (Davis) arrived as Duty Officer and took over as command and requested the rapid intervention dispatch. Crews from Winfield remained on the scene until 2:00p.m. performing overhaul and assisting the Office of the State Fire Marshal.

The fire caused approximately $30,000 in damage to the home and it is believed the fire started from a malfunctioning stove.

No one was injured in the fire, however a dog was taken to a local vet for checkup from smoke inhalation.
