On Thursday evening at 5:33p.m. Mt. Airy Volunteer Fire Company and surrounding fire departments responded to a reported house fire in the 1900 Block of South Main Street. First arriving units encountered a rapidly advanced fire in two story a single family house. Winfield's Engine 142 responded on the Rapid Invention Dispatch and upon arrival was assigned to help protect the adjacent exposures with a hand-line while the driver of the pumper assisted with water supply from the secondary water source supplying the aerial tower. Duty 14 (Chief 14-2 Davis) responded as command support and assisted at the command post. The fire was brought under control by 7:30p.m.

The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Frederick County Fire Marshal's Office.
