On Thursday April 23, 2015 at 6:54 p.m. Winfield Fire Department was alerted for a vehicle fire on Ridge Road in the area of Michael Road. Captain 9-1 (Stansbury) who was traveling down Ridge Road was the first to arrive advising there was a vehicle on the shoulder fully involved. Engine 142 arrived and the crew quickly deployed a hose line extinguishing the fire in the engine compartment and interior passenger compartment. The crew experienced a challenge with a leaking fully tank that kept igniting the underside of the SUV so they deployed a foam pro-pack, inline foam inductor, and several dry chemical extinguishers. Chief 14-2 (Davis) had command of the incident, Tanker 14 provided water supply, and Utility 14-1 brought additional dry chem from the station. Units went in service around 20:00 hours.
