Vehicle Rescue on Route 27

On Tuesday March 18th just after 11:30 a.m. units from Winfield, New Windsor, and Mt. Airy were alerted for a rescue reported car vs. tractor trailer in the area of Route 27 and Shorty Hills Drive. First arriving Chief 14-1 (Tim Legore) established Route 27 Command advising there one person heavily trapped. Paramedic 149 & 109 worked on patient care for the single occupant. Crews from Engine 141, Engine 102 and Rescue 1 worked together on the extended extrication. Rescue Squad 8 provided the landing site for MSP Medevac Helicopter. One patient was flown to Shock Trauma in serious condition. Route 27 remained closed for several hours while MSP investigated the accident.
