Early Tuesday morning, Winfield Firefighters were alerted at 2:04 a.m. as part of a box alarm for a house fire in the 7600 Block of Maple Avenue in Sykesville. Engine 123 was the first to arrive and Chief 12 established Maple Avenue Command advising a working house fire with fire through the roof and immediately requested the rapid intervention dispatch. Command Support 14 arrived and was directed to oversee fire attack operations. Winfield's Engine 142 assisted with overhaul, while Engine 141 provided a rapid intervention crew for safety of the operating crews. All occupants of the home escaped safety and uninjured. The Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the cause of the fire. Crews cleared and went in service around 4:30 a.m.
