"A fire destroyed a small structure on a property near Winfield, and chickens and bunnies are thought to have died in the blaze.
A call for a fully involved barn fire in the 1700 block of Bloom Road went out at 2:08 p.m. and firefighters responded from Winfield, Mount Airy, New Windsor and Sykesville volunteer fire companies, according to Lt. Evan Dayhoff with the Winfield fire company.
The flames were put out by 2:40 p.m. and did not spread to a nearby larger barn.
The structure was used to house chickens and bunnies, and Dayhoff said it is believed they did not survive. The cause of the fire is still under investigation."
